Sensorische sensitiviteit na een niet-aangeboren hersenletsel: een multi-level analyse

Na een niet-aangeboren hersenletsel ervaren sommige patiënten een atypische prikkelgevoeligheid (bvb. een overgevoeligheid voor licht of geluid). Het hoofddoel van deze studie was het bestuderen van de gedragsmatige en neurale mechanismen van deze atypische subjectieve prikkelgevoeligheid. Specifiek werd gekeken naar de relatie tussen subjectieve klachten van  verhoogde prikkelgevoeligheid en cognitie (voornamelijk aandacht) alsook letsellocatie en -grootte. Ten slotte werd voor het onderzoeken van de neurale mechanismen van subjectieve sensorische sensitiviteit MRI beeldvorming van de hersenen verzameld (zowel structurele als functionele MRI).

In deze multi-site studie (ZOL, UZ Leuven) werden in totaal 50 participanten met een niet-aangeboren hersenletsel en 50 gezonde volwassenen gerekruteerd.
