Hyperventilatie bij patiënten met chronische lage rugpijn
Deze studie probeerde antwoord te vinden op de vraag of de aanwezigheid van hyperventilatie bij chronische lage rugpijn gerelateerd is aan objectiveerbare hypocapnie dan wel aan subjectieve beleving van hyperventilatiesymptomen. Er werd onderzocht of er een verband is tussen hyperventilatiesymptomen in deze populatie pijnpatiënten en andere factoren zoals psychologische karakteristieken of verminderde capaciteit om het evenwicht in rechtopstaande houding te bewaren. Ook werd het effect van emotional imagery op lichaamshouding bij deze populatie bestudeerd.
Voor deze studie werden 2 groepen patiënten met lage rugpijn gerecruteerd (met en zonder bijkomende hyperventilatieklachten), alsook 1 groep gezonde gematchte controlepersonen. Zij werden allen uitgenodigd worden in het REVAL-instituut, waar ze deelnamen aan klinische tests en vragenlijsten invulden.
